Sometimes You Need to Let Loose…

Four months as a PCV and 6 months in country.  To me, it seems like time flew by.  Of course that is only after the fact.  I am afraid that I will get too comfortable and then I will realize it is time to go home for good.  Then it will seem like I missed everything.  I do travel a lot here.  I try to stay at site, but sometimes I need to go.  So it is important to me to attend events that people personally invite me to here.

The first event was a PCV party.  An 80′s party.  I have pictures but I can’t post them.  I have decided that  I will not let any of my family see me until I walk through the gate at the airport in two months.  Sorry.  My decision is final though.  Back to the party.  It was at a roller rink, we wore 80′s style clothing (I went prep) and we skated to 80′s music.  It was an amazing weekend.  This past week was up and down. I had a great start to my library project, but I was only able to teach 5 out of 17 hours because of semester exams.  It was nice to let loose.

On Thursday, I was invited to teacher’s wedding that was today, Sunday.  Short notice?  Not here.  This is the fourth wedding I was invited and I wanted to keep my reputation as someone who attends events when you invite him.  So I left the party site early this morning, feeling a little sick and got back to my site in time to change and bike the 6 miles to the wedding.  I felt horrible, but now I am very glad I went.  It was a fun wedding. They are really appreciative when you attend.

The best part is seeing the teachers let loose.  They like to knock them back.  Naturally I had to participate.  The worst is when they “dike” you.  That means drink the whole glass…or chug it.  Not as bad as it may seem because the glasses are tiny and filled with ice.  Yeah, I drink beer on ice through a straw now.  It is the way to go.

See y’all soon.
